The process requires a special type of liquid dye. When the dye meets the polyester fabric, it begins to solidify. Once completely dry, heat and pressure is applied.
with the applied heat, the fabric molecules then expand and the dye slips into the gaps that appear. As the shirt cools the gaps close, trapping the pigment into the garment.
For this method, you will need a stencil, and a nylon mesh. You set up the stencil, which is held by the nylon mesh. A waterproof material will block the negative space that you want to design.
This process is used for larger productions or runs of t-shirt designs. Small runs are not recommended due to cost of set-up. Minimum runs of 50-100 are usually recommended. This method is suited for one color per screen. It is not ideal for super complex multi-color designs.
Cotton is an excellent choice for screen printing, as it will absorb the colors. Choosing the right color or blend of cotton is key, We recommend a 60/40 blend.
DTG printing is recommended for complex designs, with sharp details and multiple color variations. Dtg printers use water-based inks, hence best results occur with natural fabrics, as they have the tendency to absorb liquids. The outcome is vibrant colors that are strongly fixated into the fibers resulting in high wash endurance. Synthetic fabrics, on the other hand, repel water as they are composed from plastic.
The most suitable textiles for DTG printing that are considered: Cotton, Combed Cotton, Ring spun Cotton and Organic Cotton..
